Paula here and today is my first post for the new DT, and I'm either brave or mad (most people will say the latter) - Why do I say this, well, I've challenged myself to do something out of my comfort zone......in the 9 years of crafting, I think I might have done about 6-8 layouts but they have been extremely basic, as I've found facing a 12x12 piece of paper quite intimidating.
Anyhow, when I received my DT pack, I fell in love with the papers, the base paper is Glitz Design,Yours Truly Chevron, I wiped over it with some white acrylic paint and then flicked some of the paint (slightly watered down) across the page.
I then stamped some numbers which are from the Tim Holtz - Stuff to Say Set, I then spritzed some Vibrant Turquoise Dylusions ink spray randomly, I then picked some of the Dylusions ink spray onto a piece of paper towel and wiped it through a Crafters Workshop 6x6 stencil called 'Blazonry' - and just to shock you, I then chose what photo I was going to use....I placed it on the page and then cut some strips out of the Glitz Design, Yours Truly Ephemera  paper, then placed them under the photo with some Yellow Polka dot Washi tape by Glitz Design.

The flower embellishment (seen in the picture above) is a Donna Downey - Poppies, the alphabet, numbers, circles and star stickers are by Jenny Bowlin, Black Skinny Alphas.

Finally, I coloured some of the LO sides with some Black Soot Distress ink.

Hope you'll come by again for my 2nd post on the 20th.

Paula ;)

  6. Smashing contemporary layout Paula. Beautifully balanced and I love how the poppy is the same shade as a couple of the stickers to tie them all together and the splash of blue mimics the colour of the sky in your photo. Beautiful first piece!
