Playing with Sticky back Canvas

Sticky back canvas is a whole new product to me, so having some as part of my Design Team kit has been a real eye opener - it's a wonderful product to play with, and it takes Dylusion Ink sprays beautifully, as well as paints, distress inks and ProMarkers. When making these items, I think I was subconsciously influenced by the work of Alisa Burke, who I adore.
I made the heart (shown above) by drawing a heart shape onto the backing of the canvas, then cutting it out, I used this cut out to draw around again, so I had a front and a back. I peeled off the backing and stuck the hearts down onto a non stick mat, I then sprayed them with Dylusion inks, I would recommend drying them before using any masks/stencils - for me, I found the black spray just blended in and the mask shape didn't show up that well. Once I'd finished stencilling, stamping etc. I then put some padding into the centre of the heart and stuck the edges together -  I then stitched a heart shape, as shown.

The circles are brooches, I've just die cut some circles from some pre coloured canvas which has been stencilled etc. then backed them onto felt and added a brooch pin.

On an ATC sized piece of sticky back canvas I've again used Dylusions ink sprays, stencils, distress inks, stamps, white paint and a black ProMarker.

  6. Wow awesome Paula - never seen or have a play with stick backed canvas - it looks really useful to use - it's got my head buzzing with ideas. I just adore your 'arty' way of sticking the hearts together and padding it - so much more creative that way.

And the little arty brooches so sweet to attach to a bag or add to a chain for a pendant as well as being a brooch.

    Brilliant
