Hello!
Back to my standard 'go to' comfort projects today...a painty panel!!!
I've been trying out a less is more approach to the background with this one, trying to get some detail simply with the colour (and a stencil!)
This is what I call my 'bruise' colour combo...yellow green and purple! Gesso on the 8 x 8 chipboard sheet to start with, just to make the colour pop. I then scraped texture paste through a stencil, before getting busy with the colour. I started with yellow, then added sponged and brayered layers of pale green, white and purple.....
Lots of thin layers, just building up the colours!
I sponged gesso through the stencil to give white highlights...
For my focal images, I used a new stamp for me, this Stampotique design, Tenticurl by Jo Capper Sandon....
Three images of varying sizes. The middle one is the full stamp, the smaller image has had a bit chopped off, and the bigger one has a bit added!
My Stampotique lady is looking a little nervous...
So I found a suitably apt quote from my stash of cut up book phrases! Those curly things definitely look scary to me........!
Have a nice weekend!

Definitely bruisy - or slightly queasy - but very cool too. Love the highlighting on the texture!

Gorgeous, great colours, love the texture in the background.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm - very interesting. Your background is beautiful and the figures? I think you are the one that used the word scary.

Woah, scaredy Mary!! Comfort zone or not, Love this - the stencil in particular (& I thought I had all the stencils I need, lol). Great background & as to those tenticulars - gosh, certainly make an impact & I too would be somewhat nervous?! Great piece as always Trish! :))
