French Country magnetic notepad

I don't know if it's the same in your house but we are always looking for something to write a quick note on.. I've come up with the idea of having a handy notepad to keep on the fridge door..

I started out with a chipboard sheet and ran it through my Bind-It-All before giving it a generous coating of white Gesso.

I then painted the chipboard using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints. I love how creamy they are and only needed to use one coat, a little goes a long wayy..

I wanted to keep a grungy effect and ran through the paint with a dry brush as it was drying..

I then added white dots using a Posca Paint Pen and then set to work building up a decoration using some of the gorgeous, gorgeous papers from Graphic 45's French Country Collection. The little flag banner is from a Jenni Bowlin sticker sheet.. they come blank so you can add you own message.

My kitchen has a pine/country feel to it so these papers work perfectly, I can see more projects to come using these fab papers!

Everything was given a generous coating of Modge Podge ... my NEW addiction.. everthing, EVERYTHING in sight atm is getting a coat.. I love this for sealing projects.

My finished notepad! I added a length of cloth and a pencil so it can't 'just' disappear... (to where all the hair bobbles go to... in our house!!!) some notepaper and a sticky magnet to the reverse side and it's already to go onto the fridge door..

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance.

Bird Song

Well hello from the wild and windy North!   My name is Jennie and I am absolutely thrilled to be here this month as Guest Designer alongside such an amazing Design Team.  Thank you so much Vicki for inviting me.

Today I am sharing an oriental tag showcasing these two wonderful birds from the graphic45 Bird Song Collection.

I inked up a Size 10 tag with  Ranger Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade,  Rusty Hinge and Fired Brick.  I made a mask from Post It Notes for the sun  and used a Crafters Workshop Leaf Mask in the lower part of the tag.  I then stamped some Chinese Text (a Craft Stamper Freebie many moons ago!) in Fired Brick.

I fussy cut the birds from one of the labels on the sheet and used foam pads to give a little definition.  Then it was all about decorating around the birds.  All these pieces came from the graphic45 Tranquility sheet which is full of labels, stamps and borders.  It really is a quite beautiful sheet to use.

I made a little fan from some Chinese paper in my stash  and added the srim and blossoms.  Again just some old tiny white flowers I found in my stash which benefited from the addition of some stamens.

I had a lot of fun making the tag as “oriental” is not something I normally do, but graphic45 papers are always wonderful to work with.

Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing you later in the month with another project.

Chunky ATC using Graphic 45 Paper

Paula here again.....can you believe it's the last day of March, where has this month gone too?
Anyhow, the little project I'm showing today is a chunky ATC - if you haven't heard of an ATC before, then they are pieces of art which are created on a base measuring 3.5"x2.5", they are then swapped with other crafters/artists - so, a chunky ATC is a 3d base to work on (my base is a piece of wood) measuring the usual 3.5"x2.5" but is 1.5" in depth.
For this Chunky ATC, I've cut the images and papers from a Graphic 45 "Olde Curiosity Shoppe" 8x8 paper pad - and apart from the feet, red handle and some word strips that's it.

Envelope

Hello everyone!

This project was a real challenge for me. I used Tim Holtz Kraft Glassine Envelope for the first time. I wanted to do something different but I'm no sure about effect ;)

It's not much to say about this project because it's very simple. I crumpled the envelope and then sprayed using Dylusions Spray Ink. I glued a few scraps of paper – I used Glitz Design Your Truly paper and cut birds from Graphic45 Bird Song collection paper.

I drew waterfalls using Ranger Liquid pearls and than I added some dots using Montana Acrylic Paint Marker. The last thing, I stamped Stampotique stamps using Ranger Archival Ink and than I embossed it. I hope you like an effect.

Winter card

Hello!

Spring is so close but still feel some winter wind! This time of the year my favourite colours are: brown, yellow and white. When first daffodils bloom, fields are still very muddy and sometimes few snowflakes fall.

Today I would like to show you very simple card. I used lovely Glitz Yours Truly and Graphic 45 Bird Song Collection papers. They are really great, you can use them for so many different styles. In the centre I added a piece of Jenni Bowlin tag. On sticky canvas I stamped Stampotique stamp and than glued Prima Tile – Almanac. Few more drops using Ranger Liquid Pearls and card is done...

Home

Hello!
For my project to share with you all today, I thought I'd go a bit more 3D..... so I made a house on a spool. With wings. As you do......
The main item I've used to create my house is a small altered art matchbox from Graphic 45. These boxes are fab, so many different things you can do to them! I knew I was going to cover the whole of the outside with old book paper, effectively sealing it up, so I needed to work on the inside first!
The inside of my house has three Prima Genie Stones hanging from the 'ceiling'...
These were hung from wire, then I poked the wire through holes in the box. This pic shows things better...
To create the roof shape, I simply cut some chipboard triangles, and stuck one to the front and one to the back of the box using masking tape. Some more chipboard to create the sloping sides, then book paper was stuck down all over to hide the tape and create a seamless look.
All of my house was coloured in the same way, using Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, in Island Spring . I love this lots, although I wouldn't call it a paint by any means, despite what it says on the bottle! I also wouldn't use the word 'glimmer' either, whilst you can see the mica shimmer in the bottle, once the product is applied its so subtle you can't really see it! It DOES give a gorgeous glossy translucent glaze effect, and the little brush applicator (think nail varnish bottles!) is absolutely perfect for creating splats! Everything got a coat of the glaze as you can see, and the splats were blasted with a heat gun so they bubbled up to give a teeny bit of texture.
I also stamped a harlequin (Jenni Bowlin) using black ink here and there, just to add a bit of distressed detail.....
My figure, (Midge, by Stampotique) was stamped onto card, cut out and then glued to a bead so she would be seen! If I had put her directly on the floor of the box, half of her would have been hidden, she needed that extra bit of height the bead gives.
Once I'd added the spool and wings to my house, the finishing touch was this fabulous Prima Type Bulb embellishment...
I removed the word that was printed on the bulb (it just scratches off), and glued on a word cut from the book pages.
So, a blue book paper house, on a spool, with wings and dangly bits inside. Just what you need to look at on a Wednesday! I'll be back soon with something a little more sane perhaps!!!
Love Trish xxx
