10 minute journal page

After spending hours in my basement workshop trying to produce a journal page and failing big time I was getting a bit frustrated. I knew what I wanted to do and I knew I wanted to use this Andy Skinner stencil called Hippy Chick as I like to use silhouette figures in my pages.

On my desk I'd also got my sheets of clean-off papers which I do keep for other projects. These are sheets from an A5 pad which I spray on or clean off stencils on and they themselves can become pieces of art work.

I cut one down to fit my journal and glued it in.

I used a watercolour pencil to simply draw inside the stencil three times.

With a water brush I activated the pigment in the pencil and drew the paint in.

I could then write inside the shapes with my Micron pen. I wrote quickly and without taking the pen off the page so it isn't immediately legible but I know what was in my head at the time. The stars on the stencil I used the pen to draw inside too.

A few extra's like the letter stickers from the Finnley collection of papers and the Glitz washi tape along the bottom and it's finished.

Try using a stencil simply without paint or ink and you might be surprised.

Dance.Love.Sing.Live

Hello!

Today I would like to show you how I have made my tag. The weather is dull that's why I used a lot of bright colours!

I used Ranger tag Manila for a background. I put some gesso using painting knife. Firstly I put a smooth layer and than moving painting knife up and down (movement a little like beating eggs ;)) I received great texture (you can see in picture 2).

I sprayed Dylusions Ink Sprays - Bubblegum Pink and Vibrant Turquoise. I like them because they are mixed together nicely. I have only 3 colours of them but I can received much more. Mixing pink and turquoise gave me violet.

I cut some hearts ( if you have a puncher it will be much quicker ) from Glitz Yours Truly paper and used a gel medium to glue them.

For more texture I used Andy Skinner stencil. I didn't use all the skull only a part of it.

Once again I used gel medium, this time using Dylusions stencil. Before it I added more gesso & inks.

I added white glitter...

...and eyelets.

Here is a result...

homemade washi tape

Hello everyone!

Washi tapes are very popular for sometime. I would love to have one...but I haven't. But than I thought why not to make it by myself?! You can use different tapes to make your own washi tape. And what is the best part, you can draw/stamp whatever you want! I had been thinking about using a masking tape but than I received amazing Prima Writers Tape from Vicki. This tape is fantastic! You can stamp on it, draw or use some mediums on it. Tape is sticky back.

To make a simple washi tape you will need:
- tape - for a background
- paint - to add some colour
- waterproof pen - if you want to draw something
- waterproof ink - for stamping
- stamp

I made two pieces, one is drawn and the other stamped.

At the first piece I used a paint with water as a background and than added only the paint in some places. At the second one I applied the paint using my finger.

My ATC using these tapes

Products which I used to make my ATC:
- Stampotique stamp
- Prima Writers Tape
- Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paint
- Sakura Pigma Micron Pen
- Ranger Archival Ink
- Ranger Liquid Pearls
- Glitz Design Yours Truly paper
- Claudine Hellmuth Studio Black Gesso
- Claudine Hellmuth Sticky-Back Canvas
- Donna Downey Studio stencil
- Jenni Bowlin paper

Simple colouring in the sunshine.

Hello there, I hope you're enjoying sunshine where you are because after weeks of misery the sun has finally arrived here.

With the sun shining I really didn't want to be staying inside crafting some complicated project or journal page so I simplified everything down, took my supplies outside and had some fun.
Before I went out I did glue a sheet of Bazzill Antique Book Paper which is brilliant stuff, slightly thicker than tissue but thinner than cardstock or scrap paper. So perfect for a journal page background. I also painted over this with white paint to give me a more neutral background.

Once outside I stamped Doolally Dorris from Dylusions along with some flowers and leaves from "How does your garden grow stamp set. I also felt the need just to stamp with my Glitz roller doodle.

I used Faber Castell Pitt pens to colour her in but it could have been Posca paint pens or acrylic markers, the point is, pens are less fuss and less mess. I simply used some watercolour paint to add colour to the background. I used Posca pens for the border and cut the sentiment from a magazine.

Very simply done and very quick.

Enjoy the sun

Mini Day Book

I've put together another mini for you today which is essentially made from one and a half sheets of patterned paper and decorated with scraps.

This particular mini will become a day book but as yet it's looking pretty on my shelf waiting for pictures and journaling to be added.

The basic construction is very simple and is as follows;

Cut one 12 x 12 sheet of patterned paper into two then with each piece fold in half.  Fold in the two side pieces so they're just about 1/4 inch from the centre fold and snip off the corner. Simple use this piece to measure and cut the opposite side.

I stitched the bottoms closed to form pockets in the pages. I used a sheet of Glitz Uncharted Waters for my book as I love the contrast of patterns.

My cover is a 12 x 6 piece of Glitz Yours Truly wood grain paper which I folded around the book pages and folded in the extra side pieces. I stitched the bottom of this page closed too then with each page lying on top of each other I stitched up the centre.

I used scraps of paper to decorate the pages along with a Jenni Bowlin Alphabet sticker sheet called  Black Tiny Dots and a K and Co Smash roller Stamp to add some extra interest to the pages.

It might only be made from one and a half sheets of cardstock but you certainly get a lot of room to put a small photo, some journaling and pocket for tags, extra pages or tickets collected along the way. Make one to take on holiday or give as a gift to a friend.

Have fun and see you next time,

Jaine x

A chipboard ornament.

Next week is my Mum's birthday and I wanted to make her something special instead of just a card so I made this little ornament which will hang up to remind her that even though we're miles apart I'm thinking of her.

The backing is a piece of square 4 x 4 chipboard by Tando Creative which I gessoed to create a neutral background to work on. Next I cut a smaller square of Glitz paper and inked the edges, a doily and a die cut frame and butterfly from more Glitz paper and layered it all together.  For detail, I used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze and painted it on the butterfly to give a gorgeous shimmer along with some stick on Prima Crystals.  The packaging from the Crystals came in handy too as a backing for the frame and the mini tag which is tucked under the ribbon. Finally I added a little birdie paper clip by Prima on the bow.

I hope she likes it and I hope you do too.

Have a good week

Finished Atc..

I used a couple of gorgeous stamps from {Stampotique Originals} (Upward Bound & Fly) both available for order if not in stock.. I edged the Atc with Pearl {Ranger Metallic} paint dabber & added some circles.. the balloon was coloured using gorgeous pencil from {Derwent}.. my first time using Inktense pencils and I am in LOVE!

Man in Black

Hello everyone!

Man in black...Maybe a man's skull maybe not, we should ask Andy Skinner ;)
I'm not a skull person, it was a challenge for me! I always have problem how to use skull mask/stamps/or whatever but I like Andy Skinner's mask and wanted to try it.

I decided I would stick with a tag. Not a big form of expression if something will go wrong I can tell - this is how I wanted. Easy peasy... Of course I wanted to use my Glitz Roller Doodles not in a straight line ;) Never mind.

On my Ranger tag ( I love it! ) I glued pieces of Bazzill Antique Book Paper and an old brown envelope. I added some masking tape pieces and more pieces of Bazzill Basics Paper. Than I paint it using white paint. After few minutes when the paint was dry I sprayed Tattered Angels Chalkboard.

And than...if you haven't got a black gesso from Claudine Hellmuth – buy one! First time I had it in my hands and I fell in love. I use it for my skull – a mask from Andy Skinner. After that I added some drops of Glimmer Glaze and splashes of orange Dr Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink.

And the best thing...my POSCA marker...it's amazing! I draw a few spots and than I used it for Stampotique stamps. For the last touches I drew a few lines using Glossy Accents.

Gesso play time.

I get through buckets of gesso and really can't get enough of the stuff but black is one which I have been keen to experiment with for ages and I think I've found a new love.

Layering white gesso on top of black produces a stunning and dramatic background and here I've added just a hint of colour to lift the page.

I used Claudine Hellmuth black gesso to paint the entire page, then using a foam stamp, plastic lid, bubble wrap and store card, I added the white gesso marks.

I also used a Glitz roller doodle stamp with the gesso and the result was perfect. NOTE: clean stamps thoroughly after using gesso as it'll dry on and be impossible to clean off afterwards.

I also stamped in black ink for a subtle background image. Next time I might try stamping with more black gesso for a more dramatic effect but I doubt I could do it with a detailed stamp. Here I've used a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Artful flight stamp set.

Claudine Hellmuth mediums come in handy small sets to try out and big bottles if you really want to go mad. Try it for yourself and you'll be pleased with the results.

09 March 2013

Hi everybody! Hope you're enjoying your weekend:-)

I'm not much of a card maker but I'm trying to change that;-) So here is a card from me to you.

On this card I've used scraps of paper from Teresa Collins Now & Then collection. My base is the Damask paper and the clock is cut out from the paper Clocks. I've used a strip of a Paper Layer from Glitz. I've embellished with a feather, a shell and some crystals from Prima.

On the inside of my card I've also used Paper Layers from Glitz. LOVE them! I also used an old book page that I have coloured with coffee. I've embellished the page with some Tim Holtz stickers and some Prima crystals.

Guess I should add some text to, just have to find out who I'll give the card to;-)

Made in minutes!

This time I'm sharing a quick way to make a layout. I love messing around with mists and paints on my pages but sometimes the simple touch is the best;-)

I made this page in about 30 minutes watching tv:-)

First I picked out my papers. If you choose a b & w photo anything goes;-) I don't really mesure but just cut the papers up randomly. The first is the backside of  "Red Flower" from the Now & then papers from Teresa Collins. Then I curled up a piece of Glitz Designs Yours Truly Ephemera and a French Kiss paper Layer also from Glitz. When you curl them like this it gives the page some extra depht. I attached them all using staples to be even more quick:-)

In between the layers I put a few journaling cards. The tag in the back is from Jenni Bowlin and it is matching perfectly to the Alpha stickers also from Jenni Bowlin. I embellished the page with a Donna Downey Poppy flower from Prima and a Light bulb from Prima junkyard findings, some twine and some metal flowers.

To give the page the final touch I wrote some journaling along the edge.

Thanks for looking:-)

Tag-time!

I just love playing with different techniques and colors on tags:-) This time I have a bright and yellow one wich is perfect now as I'm longing for spring:-)

First I've used a stencil from the Crafter's workshop and made stars using molding paste. Then I've sprayed with Dylusions, mainly yellow but also added a touch of blue. I also like spraing som water on top to blend the colors together.

Then I've embellished with a piece of Glitz Designs Yours truly ephemera patterened paper, a ticket, a journaling spot, washi tapes and some stamps. To give the tag a little special touch I added a Prima Art tile and some Prima crystals.

So here it is for you - hope it'll brighten up your day:-)
