A fairy tail - I. Wedding layout.

Hi everybody!

How are you? I hope that everything goes well and you are enjoying the summer days. I have a new project to show you. It's a guest wedding book for bride and groom, who live in Lebanon and they get married next July. :) For this book, apart from to make pages for firms, I have to integrate 4 photos of the couple in the book. So, I have created first page in Mixed Media style, of some pastel colors and a very romantic air.
So, I have started with applying the Finnabair Art Basics: Clear Gesso, which function is to make waterproof paper for later using of paints and sprays. After that, I've created a different textures using Finnabair Art Basics: Modeling Paste with some Buckground stencils. I've  glued a piece of gauze using Finnabair Art Basics: Soft Matte Gel . To add color, I resorted to my loved Prima Color Bloom Sprays and I also have added a little bit of  Background stamps.
To decorate, I have created a floral composition, with some wegging chipboards, a Shabby lace and other small decorative elements. You can buy all the materials right now in the store Sprinkle Of Imagination here. You will find a lot of great products fro your beautiful Mixed Media work! :)) Don't miss it out!!!

Here I have used Tim Holtz Distress Stickles to fill the cup ;) Some thouches of color and  Finnabair Art Ingredients Art Sugar for the last details and the page is ready! :)

And it is all for today :) I still woprking on 3 more pages and soon I will share them with you :) I Hope you liked it and see you soon!
Many kisses!xxx

Unusual page, recycled material.

Hello, my dear friends!

My DT project this week is a very unusual, round layout!
How I like to experience, renew and recycle things! :)) Yes!!! and do you know what I have used as a base for this page?
Sooner or later every thing reach the end of it useful life. I'm not Frankenstein (the opposite, pretty and nice lol), but the other day I did revive a "dead" and forgotten object that had pulled in a drawer in the kitchen. It was a mold to make cakes, old and almost rusty because it has not used for a long time. So, instead of throwing it in the trash (which would make any other woman seeing a white elephant in the kitchen lol), I rescued it and transformed it completely.

The first thing I did, was cover the surface with Black Gesso.

Then I used some Stencils with Finnabair Art Basics: Modeling Paste. When it comes to the colour, I resorted to sprays of Prima Color Bloom Sprays.

The next step was to add a few strips of different fabrics and laces, to achieve more texture and enrich the background.
I created a composition by mounting a few layers of paper, flowers, different embellishments, Finnabair Vintage Mechanicals: 961121 Plate & Label, dies cut and tags. To give a few finishing touches, I added Finnabair Art Ingredients Glass Glitter - Gold Rush

And the result is a different and very special layout :))  You can find all the materials in the store  A Sprinkle Of Imagination.
I hope you liked the idea and it has inspired you to try to do something different:))
 See you soon! Much kisses!

Layout for December

By the time you're reading this, Trish and I will be at the NEC in Birmingham at the CHA UK trade show looking at all the good things coming out this spring.

Anyway, I felt it was time to do a December layout before spring comes and everyone is totally fed up with all things Christmas.

I didn't want to go down the usual Christmassy route so opted to use a kit called Freedom by Jenny Bowlin for Echo Park as I love that red and black look.

For the stars I used a Balzer Designs stencil called Punchinella  and tried out some black embossing paste by Dreamweaver for the first time and was totally blown away by it. I've usually added black gesso to my paste before but I thought I'd try out one which was black to start with and it's gorgeous. It's thick so no leaking under the stencil and glossy so you have this gorgeous shine when it dries.

The only other things I used on the page were some white gesso, Broken China Distress paint and a few bits of shiny turquoise washi tape by MME.

Have a good weekend what ever you're doing.

September layout

Well here we are in November already and the Christmas crafting is going up a gear, but before all that here's a layout from my Project Life album for September.

I looked in my stash for a suitable background paper to start from and found this beautiful Jenni Bowlin paper called Modern Mercantile. It fitted the mood perfectly.

For the rest of the layout I've used off cuts of other Jenni Bowlin and Glitz papers.

Summer in the City.

I love love love the colours in this months challenge, see them here.

When I was going through my stash to see what I had to match the colours I was pleasantly surprised to find this sheet of paper from Echo Park in my collection called Bokeh Blur. It's part of the Capture Life range and as soon as I saw it I had the perfect photo to create a layout with.

The stickers all come from the Finnley collection from Glitz and blended in wonderfully.

There's plenty of time to enter the challenge which closes on the 12th October.

July layout.

Here's my layout for July using the same Echo Park kit called Capture Life.

I took one of the papers (the reverse of the hearts sheet) which had a very plain neutral finish and as I'd already decided I was going to place the two photo's on either side of the layout, I spread some texture paste through this Prima stencil called Flower mostly down the centre. I had intended that the paste would act as a resist to my ink spraying but I picked up some yellow off the stencil by accident (dirty crafting) and thought I'd go with it as it didn't look too bad.

When the paste was dry I took a paintbrush and painted on my spray inks in random patches for a watercolour effect.

There are also some random spots of Stickles as I'm adding them to everything I do at the moment.

Have a good week

A layout for May

When I started my Project Life album at the start of the year, I made a promise to myself I'd also add one layout per month to go in between the pages. I'm not much of a 12 x 12 scrapper, preferring instead to create mini books and journals, but I wanted to venture more into this new area and find a style I liked.

In this layout for May, I've chosen to use Teresa Collins Family Stories collection. I love the colours.

I've also started to write more with a paint brush and cut the words out to add to my work as I love that look and believe me when I say it makes your handwriting look loads better. I normally hate my own writing but this makes it look great, especially lifted up on foam pads.

I Love You To The Moon - GDT Riikka Kovasin

Happy Valentine's Day! Riikka here again with another guest design post and I have a little present for you - a video.

Who am I? My name is Riikka Kovasin, I'm a Finnish mixed media style scrapbooker with a passion to have my fingers inked on weekly basis. I'm happiest when I can get messy with different paint media and create a piece of memory keeping at the same time. What a perfect combination! My blog is called Paperiliitin. Please come and say hi!

For my second post I created a Valentine themed layout about my two daughters. The picture is an old one, but I really loved the topic and the angle of it. It shows them playing an afternoon tea party.

The quote from the 7 Dots Studio "Messy Head" collection suited the layout perfectly as I love them both to moon and back. I also used other patterned papers from the collection. As one of the journaling style cards I wanted to use on the layout was purple, I added some purple details to the layout. If you want to see how the layout came to life, please watch the video underneath.

Thank you for looking! I hope I have inspired you!

Two paths

Hello

Today I would like to show you my layout. I haven't made a lot of layouts in my life. Only a few.
I used Glitz Raven collection for my background. I like these collection for its great designs.

For the first two layers I used a stripes of masking tape and gesso.

I mixed gesso with orange ink and it gives me more fluid gesso. I applied it using the other end of the brush.

The last thing was to stick everything to my background. It's a little messy there but it seems that everything works.

I used:
- Darkroom Door Carved Birds Vol 1
- Glitz Design Raven
- Claudine Hellmuth Sticky-Back Canvas
- Bombay India Ink - Orange
- Sakura Micron Pen
- Prima Writers Tape
- gesso
