Heffalump collage tag!

Hi there, it's Gez here today! I am delighted to be sharing a tag I've made for you this week.

A sprinkle of imagination have a great choice of scrapbooking papers in store, along with a fab selection of paints, pens and other goodies.. I love browsing the store!

Isn't he... just the cutest heffalump!

I started out with using a sheet of patterned paper from the Yours Truly range called Polka by Glitz Design. I simply cut a tag shape around the elphant and ran it through my sewing machine.. I also added scraps from a couple of other sheets.. you know those tiny pieces that you save and never want to throw away!!

I used the reverse side of the Polka sheet, I love double sided paper as you get more for your money! The word 'LOVE' comes from a sheet called Ephemera also by Glitz Design, I have had so much mileage from this sheet!

To finish the tag, I added a couple of Prima Crystals and a piece of dyed muslin cloth for the tie.

Many thanks for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance.
 Happy creating, Gez

Be Mine?

Belated, Happy Valentines Day.. I hope everyone had a lovely day!

Today, I've an altered wooden block to share with you, using some of the gorgeous Glitz Design Yours Truly Collection seriously, these papers should be for stroking only!!

I am known as a bit of a hoarder/recycler and just couldn't pass up on this off cut of wood.. I cleaned it up and left to dry out naturally then sanded the edges..

I painted around the edges of the wooden block with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paint in Charcoal Black.

While it was drying I set about looking for some corrugated card from a left over box from Christmas.. Bingo! I found just was I was looking for and it was white! I stamped and grunged it up a little using Ranger's Pearl Metallic Paint Dabbers and glued down onto it one of the small typo bulbs from the Prima Junkyard Findings set.. I just LOVE these!

While the paint and glue was drying on everything! I tore and grunged up some of the pretty Glitz Design Yours Truly Polka paper.

Once the bulb had stuck to the cardboard... I added some wire from my squirrelling bag! and mounted the heart onto the paper using 3D foam pads..

Next I took another sheet of paper from the Yours Truly Collection by Glitz Design.. measured the block and cut the paper to size using a sheet of Truly Ephemera..

The paper was really too nice to cover up really!

Here is my finished block..

I used a sweet little stamp called Be Mine from Stampotique Originals, and stamped onto tissue paper using Jumbo Jet Black Archival Ink Pad.

Thank you for calling. Have a great day. Gez

Electric love...

Hello everyone!

Do you remember my last post? I showed you a very simple technique using all-purpose glue and paint. Today I would like to show you what effect you can achieve using the same all-purpose glue and paint but also adding some water.

Here I used paint with a few drops of water.

Here I sprayed water after applying glue and paint.

And here is my project using this technique.

For layers I used some pieces of newspaper, white tissue paper, Glitz Yours Truly paper and paper pieces with glue+ paint technique. Also I added letters from a great Jenni Bowlin Grey Skinny Alphas and a tag also from Jenni Bowlin. Then I used some fantastic Stampotique stamps – I love them! I always use Archival Ink Jet Black for my mixed media projects. I let everything dry and applied Ranger Liquid Pearls – White Opal.
The finishing touches...I glued a fabulous Prima Bulb embellishment and Prima Say It In Crystals.

playing with glue

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to show you very interesting technique using all purpose craft glue. I'm not a fan of glue when I'm making cards or layouts. I prefer to use a double sided tape. Why? Please don't lough. Every time I use a glue my fingers are sticky but of course I always forget about this...and after a few minutes my eye is itching and than I have a swollen eyelid. That's why I'm trying to avoid glue but not when I'm working on my mixed media projects! I love using glue because it gives a lovely texture when is mixed with paint.

I can only give you some ideas. This is an easy technique but what effects you can get! There is so many textures when you use glue + paint! Please try different brand glues, different paints – not only colours but also making companies.

Here you can see four different backgrounds. You can paint your surface or decorate it. Whatever you will choose you need to wait and allow it to dry!
For my backgrounds I used a red paint, a Stampotique stamp, a piece of newspaper. I also leave an empty space – you will see for a moment what I'll do with it. Oh, nearly forgot, please remember to use a waterproof ink for your stamp! We don't want to have a smudgy background, do we? For sure, not this time! But you can try maybe you will achieve a great effect. I used Ranger Archival Ink.

I applied a layer of glue with my brush. I did the same on the empty space on my paper.

And now a funny bit! I took a clean brush and applied the paint. The glue need to be wet! Don't allow the glue to dry without a layer of paint!

When you will apply your paint the first crackles will appear very quickly but let the glue and paint dry. You can try to use a hairdryer or Heat It Up! to speed up the effect. Too much hot air in one place and you will have bubbles ( or whatever you call it ) , be careful!
On first three backgrounds I applied the paint only in one direction, on the fourth one I changed directions. It's not a perfect image, when you will try on a bigger size paper, effect will be better.

And one more thing - the thicker layer of the glue the bigger cracks will appear. On top – the thick layer of glue. Bottom – the thin layer of glue.

I hope you will have a lot of fun playing with glue and paint!

This is my project using a lot of glue to make a texture background.

Some people...

Hello again!
I hope you had a great week and you are inspired by my lovely DT friends! The Ladies made amazing projects, didn't they?

Today I would like you to meet Jasio ;) Jasio is a very shy boy but he likes to show his face in my art journals. I've made a new art journal specially for him. Ladies and gentlemen...please meet Jasio!

I've made my journal with old brown envelopes. I know that some people haven't got good thoughts about brown envelopes maybe that's why you should recycle them and make something nice with them?

First I used a stamp from Stampotique and clear embossing powder. It's a great technique if you want some texture in your project. Than I sprayed Dylusions Ink Sprays – Postbox Red and Vibrant Turquoise. I wiped my embossed stamp faces, I wanted them nice and clean. When sprays were dry I put a thin layer of white gesso.

You don't know that yet but I love black paint. A project without black paint is goes to a bin. I'm joking ...but it's really very close to true. You can see a Stampotique stamp and a black paint around a gesso which I applied using a kitchen towel. After that I draw Jasio's faces using Derwent Inktense – Bark and than I putted some Ranger Liquid Pearls Pastel Raspberry on his cheeks using my finger. Than I cut crowns from a lovely Glitz Yours Truly Chevron paper.

I wanted some texture on Jasio's clothes. I decided to use a white tissue paper which I sprayed using Dylusions Spray Inks and stamped using Stampotique stamp. The buttons on Jasio's clothes are Prima's Say It In Crystals. A pen around clothes and crowns is Sakura Gelly Roll – White.

The last step: print and stick some words to my project, I choose Bob Marley's quote.

See you next Monday!

Little Treasures..

I am delighted to be sharing my first ever creation with you for A Sprinkle of Imagination.

This week different members of the design team are sharing their talents and super creations with you here on the creative blog and today it's my turn..

One of my new year resolutions this year is to get back into scrap booking and so I have a 9"x5" page to share with you..  I have gathered lots of memorabilia while going through drawers and sorting out my parents estate and I've found the perfect solution for storing little treasures and paperwork.. the Tim Holtz Idea-ology glassine envelopes make for the perfect storage solution.. here is one of my pages.. based on my original idea..

 Little Treasures album page..
Ingredients

Glassine envelope, (tag size)
Yours Truly Collection of papers from Glitz Design
Stampotique Originals stamp (Olive Rose)
Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze (Paradise Pink)
also, lace, pin and flower from my craftbox

First of all I started by scrumpling up the Glassine envelope to give it an aged feel and applied paint splatters using the Tattered Angels, Paradise Pink Glimmer Glaze this paint is so COOL, it is a translucent paint with glimmer and shimmer!

I also painted a paper rose from my craftbox witht the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze.. I can see me needing more of this paint in lots of different colours!!

   close up..

I am so please with my album page and feel the envelope worked a treat!

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance. Please keep popping back to see lots more inspiration and fabulous creations.

 Happy creating, Gez oxoxo

Layers...

Hello!
My first post as a DT member of ASOI! I'm so exited! I can't find words...specially in English...I hope you will forgive me.

Today I have for you three small collage pages. I worked with layers which is a great fun! You should try this! I will start with the first one. Here is it...

I used a piece of thick envelope as a base. For the background I used gesso in a few places than I sprayed the envelope with Dylusions Ink Sprays – Postbox Red and Turquoise. Because envelope is brown and very quickly absorbing water, sprays changed colours. My next step was to add some pieces of masking tape, newspaper and a lovely Glitz Design Yours Truly Chevron paper.
Also I added a piece of bandage using stapler. Once again I sprayed my project and painted it with a white paint.

Now you can see difference between the background colours and colours in paper made by Dylusions Ink Sprays.

After few minutes when sprays and the paint were dry I used one of my favourite Stampotique stamp - Honeycomb and than I added a few drops of Dr.Ph.Martin's Bombay IndiaInk – Orange and Ranger Glossy Accents.

The last thing was to add an elephant from a beautiful Glitz Design Yours Truly Polka paper and add some doodles. I drew a line around the elephant because I wanted him to be exposed. Ufff, I think it's everything about this page. I hope you are not asleep yet ;)

Now I would like to show you two more pages. It will be shorter this time, I promise. Here they are...

I was working in the same way. I built some layers using masking tape, gesso, Dylusions Spray Ink – Postbox Red, white paint and papers. I also used a tag which I had painted some time ago. I always can find something interesting in my drawers ;) I couldn't resist orange ink and felt urged to add my lovely Dr.Ph.Martin's Bombay India Ink – I love it!

The last thing was to add some drawings. I coloured some parts of my hens head (sorry I really don't know this parts of body in English ;)) using Dylusions Ink Spray.

Of course I used a waterproof pen because I didn't want a smudgy hen!

See you next Monday! :)
