Hello! Shirley back again, and for today's card I've been playing with the resist properties of Distress Paints when used with Distress Inks.
On a panel of white mixed media paper I used Picked Raspberry Distress Paint through two Tim Holtz layering stencils (Stripes and Schoolhouse). Once that was dry, I swiped my Fossilised Amber Distress Ink pad across the panel, then rubbed it all in with a tissue. Rather than take on the ink colour, the painted areas resist the ink, leaving the original paint colour showing through.
Next I took another piece of card and this time dabbed on Chipped Sapphire, Picked Raspberry and Wild Honey Distress Paints, then spritzed heavily with water to let the colours bleed into each other. You need some absorbent paper towel or kitchen roll underneath this!
Once that was dry (with a little help from a heat gun to finish it off), I stamped all over with some butterflies from Finnabair's Don't Forget To Fly set, then cut them out and selected the one that I wanted to use.
One finished card, and lots of spare butterflies for future projects!

Oh wow, Shirley! This resistant technique is a must try...and the color combination is simply great! Both for the butterfly and the background...so cheerful and happy! :)
